This watercolor of a Sunday walk captures the beautiful glow of sunlight dancing across the children’s hair and clothes. And is found bouncing off of the leaves in the shadows. This painting is all about light and shadow and how they come together to create something magical.
Sunday walks are something my family enjoys to explore new places around where we live. It’s a ways for us to recharge our batteries for the week and to take in some fresh air. But on this particular Sunday it was almost 100 degrees out. And we needed a place we knew would have shade. So we packed some water and snacks and off we went. This particular trail is in in a ravine, and it has lots of trees growing all around. This made for a cool walk along the little stream following the trail. As we walked, I loved how the sun bounced around the leaves and clothes of those walking the trail. This created lost and found edges and a glow about them. So I decided to capture the calm and peacefulness of the day.
